Summer camp for troop 268 is held at Seven Ranges, it is an entire week long, and it is everything that scouting is meant to be. Your children will leave as kids and return as scouts. While there, scouts will earn merit badges, work with others, practice all sorts of new skills that they would likely never learn at home, like kayaking, tomahawk throwing, basketry, or woodcarving, and enjoy an entire week with their friends.
Summer camp offers scouts merit badge classes that are extremely important to rank advancement, these classes are on strict time schedules and if your scout choosing to take these classes, he will learn to follow a time frame, something vital to life beyond childhood and scouting. Manners are encouraged greatly, as well as cleanliness. While at summer camp, a scout will keep his tent clean, as well as his campsite, He will get used to helping others, whether it is to help with a merit badge, or wait on a table during a meal, but all these duties are also accompanied by freedom and exciting activities, when a scout is not busy at a merit badge class, he has the freedom to do what he wants, he could go to the trading post and buy a slushie, or go over to the waterfront and swim, or kayak. He could go to the firing range and try out rifles and shotguns, or try his hand at archery. there is a lot to do, and a lot to learn.
While scouts are not required to attend summer camp, it is strongly encouraged, and not just by the adults, but the scouts that have attended as well.
